Fashion Designer or Fashion Disaster?
Allright, I give up. There is now more than one person posting in my guestbook telling me to stop making fun of Setsuna's clothing. Well, maybe I was a little mean. (Okay, peeps, cool as she is, she ain't real, thus does not care what I say about her clothing, got it?) Besides, as my nitpicker friend Ian said, no where in the manga does it say 'fashion designer'. It merely says designer. So she doesn't really want to be a fashion designer, that's just one of those stupid fan myths that he's dedicated large amounts of time to debunking. I'm going to keep this article up, just because I thought the title was kinda witty myself. -_-;;; This doesn't mean I'm changing my mind. I'll just alter it some. And just because she doesn't want to be a fashion designer does NOT excuse the hideous outfits, my friends.

In the manga Setsuna can definitely dress to impress. She has several cute, classy outfits, and even a few revealing ones. Unfortunately, the animators had less fashion sense than Naoko (I'm not saying she didn't have any, the manga outfits were awesome!) so the anime wardrobes were much less attractive. There, am I being nice enough now?

I understand that the SMS season was done roughly around '94-'95 and I agree, even I had bad taste in clothing back then. One cannot hold her to blame, I suppose. But there is a need to recognize fashion disasters before they become life threatening, both to viewers and wearer. In the words of Rogue Squadron pilot Hobbie Klivian, "There are three types of dress clothing. The kind that offends the wearer, the kind that offends the viewers, and the kind that offends everybody." [Starfighters of Adumar, Aaron Alliston] Setsuna must be going for the third kind.

Don't hold any of it against poor Setsuna. She's still cool and her fans still love her, fashion sense or no! That's true, too!
